TOKOROZAWA SAKURA TOWN is the new pop-culture entertainment complex of Japan, featuring grand architecture by world renowned architect Kengo Kuma.
The multi-purpose complex includes museums, a beautiful modern shrine, year-round events & festivities, shopping, karaoke & net cafe, and some great ramen!
SAKURA TOWN also hosts anime, manga & gaming related events & exhibitions throughout the year.
With plenty to see & do, it’s a great option for a half-day trip or even overnight stay.

MUSEUM

Kadokawa Culture Museum
As you approach SAKURA TOWN, it’s impossible to not notice the museum’s enormous rock-shaped structure come into view.
Kadokawa Culture Museum is an all-in-one cultural complex with a library, an art gallery and museum.
You have to at least see the 8m / 26.25ft high Bookshelf Theater inside.
Anime & manga fans should check out the EJ Anime Museum, as well as the Manga & Light Novel Library.

SHRINE

Musashino Reiwa Shrine
The newly built modern-looking shrine was built as a wish for the continual growth & development of Japanese culture.
Inside you will find gorgeous ceiling art by Yoshitaka Amano of Final Fantasy fame.
It is also the first stop of 88 officially recognized anime locations in Japan, and doubles as an anime tourism information point.

teamLab: Resonating Life in the Acorn Forest

The neighboring Musashino Woods Park lights up at night, turning into an interactive digital art space.
The ovoid objects glow in the presence of people, illuminating the acorn forest in a beautiful array of colors.
The team behind this art project is none other than teamLab, the same creative minds behind the famous indoor projection mapping attraction "teamLab Borderless" in Odaiba.

EVENT SPACES

eSports, 2.5D musicals & live concerts are held inside Japan Pavilion Hall A, whereas Hall B is for cinema screenings.
Outdoor events including food festivals, dance shows and small sports are held at the spacious Central Square & Sennin Terrace.

By Train TOKOROZAWA SAKURA TOWN is about 10 mins walk from JR Higashi-Tokorozawa Station.
From Tokyo Station:
・Take the JR Keihin-Tohoku line to Minami-Urawa Station, and then switch to the JR Musashino Line to get to Higashi-Tokorozawa Station.
・Alternatively, take the JR Chuo line to Nishi-Kokubunji Station, and then switch to the JR Musashino Line to get to Higashi-Tokorozawa Station.

From Ikebukuro Station:
Take the Tobu-Tojo train line to Asakadai Station, and then switch to the JR Musashino Line to get to Higashi-Tokorozawa Station.

Since Higashi-Tokorozawa Station is part of the JR network, if you have (or will buy) a JR Pass, you can use that to get to Sakura Town at no extra cost (must use JR train lines).
From the airport From Haneda Airport:
・There is a direct bus service operated by Seibu Bus that will take you directly to SAKURA TOWN. The bus ride is approx. 90 mins.

From Narita Airport:
・Take the JR Narita Express to Tokyo Station and refer to the above for instructions on how to navigate from Tokyo Station.

Useful tips

For a more enjoyable experience
  • Bring some cash

    There are ATMs on-site, but bring extra cash just in case.

    Attractions, food & shopping for anime merch can easily turn your visit into a $100+ day.

  • Coin lockers

    You can store your belongings in the coin lockers beside the shrine.

    There’s two sizes: Medium (¥400) and Large (¥500).

  • LED manholes feat. character-art

    To help you find your way between the station and SAKURA TOWN, there is a trail of LED manholes that also light up at night.

    The manholes feature original character art across numerous titles such as Mobile Suit Gundam, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Full Metal Panic! and more.

  • Avoid queues

    Canteen KADOKAWA and Ramen Walker Kitchen are very popular lunch options, so get in early.

  • Find your seat first

    At Canteen KADOKAWA, you should be given a table reservation card upon entering.

    Place your card down on an open seat or table first before ordering at the counter.

    You’re then given a buzzer that you hold onto until it gets called.

  • Special food needs

    Restaurants may accommodate special food requests, but to a limited extent.

  • Mother’s room

    Accessible between 10:00 - 18:00.

    It includes a diaper-change table & microwave for baby food.
