TOKOROZAWA SAKURA TOWN’s winter illumination has been an annual tradition since opening in November 2020. As a new illumination spot in Tokorozawa, it has been greatly received by the local community.

The theme for this year’s 3rd edition is "GREEN CIRCUS". Continuing on the concept of "coexistence of people, towns and nature" from previous years, environmentally friendly lighting fixtures and construction methods were used, while adding new elements such as pop and colorful lighting and playful furniture decorations, bringing circus or amusement park excitement to the mix.

The town's symbolic icon - the 12m high Japanese umbrella pine Koyamaki tree and its surrounding lawn area, and the main building exterior will be the first to be lit up on November 5th (Sat). The remaining Central Square, Kadokawa Culture Museum water basin, and the sidewalk at the adjacent Higashi-Tokorozawa Park will be lit up from December 5th (Sat). A Christmas side-event in December is also in the works - more details coming soon via our website.

Highlights of the event

Symbol Tree (Japanese umbrella pine) and surrounding lawn

LED & PAR lights illuminate the tree without being physically attached to the tree itself out of care and preservation. The Symbol Tree is a photogenic spot where you can enjoy the change between day and night with colorful decorations that have a circus vibe to it.

Main Building Exterior

Light-up of the exterior of the main building (expanded metal). The colorful lighting, inspired by the image of soap bubbles in a circus soaring into the sky, invites the viewer's gaze from the earth to the sky.

Central Square

An large open area for children to play around or for adults to sit & relax on the outdoor seating amongst green plants.
